Makeup Diaries: Great Makeup Essentials For Makeup Beginners Part 1

  1. Mascara: Of course what every girl needs in her makeup bag is mascara. This is a no brainer essential. With just a few coats, mascara can dramatically change your looks & your good to go. A great mascara for beginners is Maybelline's New York Great Lash Big Washable Mascara.
  2. Foundation : This is another great essential because most people out there don't have perfect skin, and the cause for this is multiple factors like: our skin is always aging, washing our face over the years/products we've used on our face over the years, scars, acne, acne scarring, harsh seasons, etc. Since your a beginner in makeup,  I would definitely suggest trying out drugstore makeup first (duh right?) Anyways so you can see how everything works, get into makeup a little more depth, before bargaining for high end products. Some of my favorite drugstore brands are Revlon for their foundations (people also rave about there lip butters, which is like a moisturizing lip tint- best of both worlds if you don't want to get into lipstick just yet. ) (If you don't really need much coverage for your face, I highly recommend just pressed or loose powders.) Like Rimmel's Stay Matte Pressed Powder($3-5) (Will do review later.)
  3. Tinted Lip Balm : For the beginners who don`t want to mess with lipstick just yet. You can get the best of both worlds like I said above with these, moisture & some color. If you want to look into these Revlon has there lip butters & Maybelline just came out with their new Color Whisper`s that are supposedly a lipstick but with somewhat translucent color properties.

That's basically all for this post, I think I`ll do a series of this and call it the Makeup Beginner's Diary!  (None of the photos below are mine)

Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede Lipstick Review

What the color looks like in the package

                                                     (Photos are not mine)

              ║ What they claim:

                     ● Instant moisture
                      All day color
                   Soft Suede Finish

                                                           ■ Review:
I do not believe it gives instant moisture more like the opposite, is drying. It does come in a variety of shades, but not a lot of different colors (if that makes sense). They didn't have many colors that really stood out to me, thats why I bought Muse, because it was one of the only colors that stood out to me. It applys very sticky & tacky, but I guess thats what makes the color stay on all day. At first it does give a soft suede finish, but after a few hours, just looks dry & flaky on the lips. Even though it starts to wear off (like in the corner of your lips) after a few hours, for the most part the lipstick and color is still left on the lips. It has lasted me through eating and drinking too. Make sure your lips are moisturized if you are going to where this lipstick. I like this lipstick, although it is a bit on the pricey side for a drugstore lipstick, the color does stay on pretty well, so I would buy again.

                                                        ◦ Pros:

                                       ◦ Long lasting color

                                                       ◦ Cons:

                                       ◦ Price
                                       ◦ Dryness

Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow Reviews

Maybellline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow #40 Tenacious Teal

Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow #25 Bad To The Bronze

Above is Maybelline's Color Tattoo Cream Gel Shadow #40 Tenacious Teal & Maybelline's Color Tattoo #25 Bad To The Bronze and there swatches. (These photos are not mine by the way.) These pictures show you EXACTLY the colors of each when you buy either of them.

 What they claim

  • Long lasting
  • Super-saturated color
  • Cream gel formula smoothes on for vibrant color that doesn't fade

  Review:

Of course in my opinion, I believe that unlike on the package, they couldn't last a full 24 hours. I know its bad to say, because I haven't worn it for a full 24 hours. It doesn't smell. I've worn them without primer for school days which is about 7 hours and they did fade and crease a little at the end of my day. Even though that being said, it wasn't too bad. It was a lot better than any powder eyeshadow (especially Elf's). You can easily fix the creasing though, by gently rubbing the crease and it should go back to looking uncreased! The pigmentation (at least on the ones I have as seen above.) is AWESOME! They really do live up to the expectations! The ones I have really are V-I-B-R-A-N-T and shiny. I like how the shadow doesn't really fall on your face through the day (like a normal powder eyeshadow would even with eyeshadow primer.) These will not smudge easily, like everyone says, they really do stay in place as far as smudging<. They also do glide on easy and no brushes required! I can create beautiful eyeshadow looks with my just my fingers! I will DEFINITELY be repurchasing more in the future! Next I hope for Pomegranate Punk or Bold Gold! I'm also going to be trying some of there new METAL shades and see how those turn out! OVERALL, I LOVE THESE & they last AWHILE!!
